Enjoy this interview with an amazing content creator and provider of content creation tools and resources!
Business Name: Ritchie Media
Tagline: PLR for Creative Publishers
Ruthie, what do you want people to know about the products or product line you offer?
I create coloring kits, planners and journals for the low-content publishing niche. I work mostly in black and white so that you can easily edit my images and templates and put your own stamp on them.
Tell us a bit about you and what you’d like content creators to know about you.
I love that I get to play with words and pictures and make a living at it! Lately, I’ve been experimenting more with color (I’m partially color-blind, so it’s always an adventure) and really loving the backgrounds and covers I’ve been creating. I also love hosting my low content bundle sales – getting to see what everyone else is doing, supporting new designers and seeing how excited they are to be a part of the bundle makes it all worthwhile.
What do you love about your products and how can “content creators” benefit from them?
I love that most of my products have relatively simple designs. It makes it easy for other content creators to dress them up and really put their own stamp on the basic design to create their own unique products from them.
How did you get started in your business and what do you love about it?
I’ve been doing some form of Internet marketing since 1997 and had flirted with the PLR industry for years, before deciding I didn’t really like writing for others. I published my first coloring book in 2015, realized how much I loved creating mandalas and other patterns, and soon had more than I could ever use myself, so decided to put some up for sale and see how they did. I don’t think it was an intentional decision at the time, more of a “let’s see if this works” approach to starting a business, but it did work, and I’m still here creating content and hosting bundle sales. I love getting up in the morning and wondering what I’m going to end up with by the end of the day!
Please share a tip for people wanting to create and sell products online.
Don’t be afraid to dive in and try it, if this is something you want to do. So many people – me included – let fear hold them back from getting started, but I can tell you from experience that once you try the fear gets a little less with every product you create.
What do you wish you knew when you first got started in your business?
I wish I’d known that it’s okay to not be perfect when you launch. It took me years to create my first info products because I thought that everything had to be absolutely perfect before you put it out there. I’ve since learned that “done is better than perfect” and that you can always make changes and upgrade your products as you go and as you grow.
