Business Name and Focus: Fictionfire Literary Consultancy and Fictionfire Writing Courses
What have you accomplished, as a result of participating in any of our courses or Membership Club?
The Share Your BrillianceClub is a constant inspiration and source of support and information , plus over the years I have found D’vorah’s courses immensely useful. Now, as I take my business to its next stage, I have set up my Teachable school and have been following D’vorah’s really detailed instructions in her Create an Attractive Online Classroom course. She takes you through the process stage by stage so nothing feels overwhelming and she has a knack for explaining things to a non-techie person with great clarity and warmth. At the same time, I am taking her equally invaluable course Enhance your Business with Colorful Web Graphics so that I can create beautiful and professional looking printable workbooks and checklists for my online courses and promotional materials too. I am learning a whole new range of skills with Canva, even though I had already been using it before!
How has this helped you to grow your business?
D’vorah’s help has increased my sense of clarity as I plan strategically, plus the kind, lucid, wide-ranging technical advice she gives makes me take risks or try new things I wouldn’t otherwise have tackled. Right now, my course materials are going to look a whole lot better because of learning about web graphics. I hope this will help ensure my online business venture is a success after so many years of in-person teaching. Also, my online school is going to look great because of her course on setting up an online classroom, so I hope to reach more potential students and clients.
What would you like people to know about you and what you offer?
I have been an editor and literary consultant since 2009, and have taught many creative writing courses and run retreats. Now it’s time to broaden my scope with online courses. Your Living Writing Year, will take new and more experienced writers through the four seasons of creative work: they’ll learn to dream it, do it, review it, share it. We’ll start with the winter season, which seems a fallow season but is the time to go deep and consider your motivation and set up your writing practice. In spring we will cover sourcing and testing ideas and how to get our stories off the blocks. Summer is about production and will cover the range of writing skills you need, from plotting to dialogue to point of view and more. Autumn is about revising and editing, plus making your choices when it comes to taking your work to market. Those who buy all four seasons will have access to a celebration and forward-planning module at the end of the year.
