As the new year approaches I’m looking at how I can bring even more value to our author community. Every fiber of my being is leading me towards focusing on helping you to develop relationships with your audience and leaders in your field before focusing on the tech side of things. I really believe that by getting clear about your “why” and your dreams and by growing your following, your fan base, and your book sales, you will turbo charge your success. While learning the “hows” is important, understanding the “whys” is even more important, in growing a successful business and following.
Upon reflection, I realize that I tend to focus on the technology and “how” first. As we enter the coming year, I have made a commitment to focus on the “why”, “dreams”, “relationship building” and “platform” first as these form the foundation of a successful business. From there focusing on technology will be in context and there will be an eager audience already in place to participate in our offerings.
Achieving your dream begins with having a burning “why.”
A key component for achieving your dreams is for you to have a huge, “why”. Give some thought to what your “why” is. Is it to build the home of your dreams or take care of your elderly parents? Is it to send your children to college or be able to travel across the globe? Is it to make a difference in the world by bringing awareness to a specific cause or to help raise funds to rectify injustices? There is no limit to what we can accomplish if we have a big enough “why”. Do you believe in your “why”, your dream, your mission, with unfailing determination and passion?
Take some time to sit quietly and write about your “Why”. What is your “Why” for wanting more success in your life? Drill deeper, keep asking yourself, “why” after each response until you get to the core “why”. It’s like peeling an onion. The deeper you go, the more powerful your “why”. If your “why” is strong enough, nothing will get in your way for accomplishing your goals and dreams!
